The Kanjur is a major section of the Tibetan Buddhist Canon, consisting of the words of the Buddha, attributed directly to Shakyamuni. It is collected in 108 volumes.

Tanjur is the commentarial and related Budddhist literature in the Tibetan Canon. Kanjur and Tanjur are translated from Sanskrit. Tanjur  comprises about 225 volumes.

Most Tibetan and Mongolian monasteries will house a set of the Tanjur and Kanjur. You will find numerous copies of this canonic text and even to find it preserved on gold. The recitation of the text was considered to be an essential part of certain ceremonies, and its importance was highlighted  by the production of beautiful manuscript copies with illustrations.

Der Tanjur ist die erläuternde und erzählende buddhistische Literatur im tibetischen Kanon und umfasst 225 Bände. Beide Texte sind  aus dem Sanskrit übersetzt.

Tibetische und mongolische Klöster verfügen zumeist über beide Textsammlungen,  die eine grosse Rolle in den Zeremonien der Klöster spielen. Die meisten Texte sind mit Hilfe von Holzdruckstöcken hergestellt.  Aufgrund ihrer Bedeutung wurden die Texte aber auch  häufig handschriftlich kopiert und mit kunstvollen Illustrationen versehen.

Das Dharmapala Centre stellt Kopien einzelner Seiten aus Kanjur und Tanjur in einer Größe von ca. 12 x 34 cm her. Jede Seite kostet 90,00 Euro.
