Monastery Thangka Consecration

Consecration is a ceremonial process of blessing the thangkas. If you like your Thangka can be consecrated in a   monastery of your choice [Nyingma, Sakya, Kagyu or Geluk Order] in Kathmandu.

The consecration puja will "bring alive" the image on the thangka by infusing it with energy and beseeching the deity to open its eyes and look upon all sentient beings.

Once properly consecrated, the thangka is a receptacle of wisdom and is considered as living Goddess. It is ready to be hung and venerated as a genuine living embodiment of enlightened mind.

The monastery will  certificate the consecreation in a special document [example of a Nyingma certificate see below]

Thangka-Klosterweihe

In einer Weihe werden Thangkas in einer Puja feierlich gesegnet. Wenn Sie möchten können Sie für Ihren Thangka in einem Kloster Ihrer Wahl [Nyingma, Sakya, Kagyü oder Geluk] in Katmandu eine solche Zeremonie durchführen lassen.

Durch eine Weihe wird dem Thangka nach Auffassung gläubiger Budddhisten "Leben eingehaucht". Das Bild auf dem Thangka wird mit spiritueller Energie geladen und der dargestellten Gottheit werden die Augen geöffnet um sich allen fühlenden Wesen anzunehmen.

Nach einer solchen Weihe wird das Rollbild als eine Weisheitsquelle und als lebende Gottheit angesehen. Sie wird danach als lebende Verkörperung des aufgeklärten Geistes verehrt.

Die Weihe wird vom Kloster in einem speziellen Urkunde dokumentiert [Beispiel eines Nyingma Zertifikats siehe unten]
